Love Comes Softly. Another movie we watched within 24 hours. Haih, I missed out by forty-five minutes while having my beauty sleep till 8.45am. Can you imagine that Yong Sheng has been watching that since 8am? hahaha.... Another movie that make you sad and shed tears.
It was shown on the Hallmark Channel, and from the internet I got to know that it's based on a novel by Christian historical fiction writer Janette Oke. We did not expect it to have Christianity elements in the movie thought Missie (a nine year old girl) told Marty (the stepmother) that Clark (Missie's father) goes out for a long walk everyday to talk to God.
A scene that is very memorable is when Clark takes Marty to his "church," a bench that faces a beautiful view where he usually walks to for his quiet time. There, he explains his faith to her when she was doubtful about Clark's God since some tragedy just happended to the family.
Marty asked, "Why are you praying to your God? If your God is so good, why did He allow bad things to happend in your life, like taking away your wife and letting the barns on fire?"
A very common question Christians get especially when faith is challenged. I was waiting for Clark's answer anxiously. Hehe... But I was impressed with that answer. A answer that kept Marty staying longer at the "church" praying to the same God.
Clark explained that he as a father, could not stop Missie from falling down while she is walking beside him. But what he can do is to make sure that he is with Missie at all time, carrying her up when she falls. That's how our Heavenly Father loves us too. He is with us through all the thicks and thins.
Amen. Thanks You Lord for your faithfulness and unending love.
